	Redirection of TNG Files?

registered: May. 2007 Posts: 7 Status: offline last visit: 01.06.07	Until today I have been running TNG 6.0.1 and pnTNG 2.14 (or 2.16?) TNG is installed at: root/tng Postnuke is installed at: root/family-site/ pnTNG installed in modules where it belongs. Today I upgraded to TNG 6.1, pnTNG was still working fine. I noticed there was an update to pnTNG, so I updated to 3.03, it's the one I saw when I followed the link from tng site... I see there is a 3.04 now as well.. Anyway, now my TNG data s no longer showing up. I look in the documentation and see you want TNG installed below PN/Modules/pnTNG/.... That means uninstalling and reinstalling my TNG? Or is there a switch I can set? If I have to uninstall/reinstall, I think I'll pass and roll back to the older version of pnTNG Jim

registered: Jun. 2005 Posts: 82 Status: offline last visit: 03.05.08	Jim, Yes, it now requires your TNG program files be located under the modules directory under PostNuke. So in effect TNG will look like two modules to PostNuke -- TNG itself, and pnTNG as a helper module to provide the blocks , user sync, etc. This was the only way I could make TNG integrate seamlessly into PostNuke without needing to use IFRAMES. This allows the TNG pages under PostNuke to be indexed by the major search engines. You don't really need to uninstall/install. You just need to move the TNG program files. So in your case, you need to move the TNG files to something like: root/family-site/modules/{what ever you want to call it} So since you called it tng in the past, I would suggest moving the files to root/family-site/modules/tng Under PostNuke, you will still need to then go under the Modules module, regenerate, and enable the 'tng' module. Then, going to pnTNG admin screen, you should see 'tng' as an option for the TNG module. Once selected, it will link the two. You will then also need to update your path under the regular TNG admin pages to point to the new TNG directory. Use pnTNG 3.05 for now. You should not need to add the TNG 6.0.4 fixes in that version. Darrin has made those in TNG 6.1.0. There are a few quirks with 6.1.0 with the new maps. I hope to bundle fixes for those in the next few days in a new version of pnTNG. - Wendel edited by: Wendel, May 31, 2007 - 04:15 PM

Unregistered User	Okay, so I just need to copy the current tng directory to the modules directory.... Did that. Activated tng as a mod got two green lights in the pnTNG admin panel Still getting 'Page cannot be displayed' when I try to go to the pnTNG mod... so I am apparently doing something wrong yet.... I'll figure it out, I'm sure... just a little rusty.... At least I don't have to uninstall/reinstall TNG! Using TNG 6.1.0 and pnTNG 3.03, as soon as I get htis worked out, I'll update to 3.05 Thanks Jim

So, my menu link should be {tng} instead of {pnTNG} ? I tried using the second format you gave above... PostNuke vanishes, it goes straight to my TNG installation, no PN wrapper.

I used the pnTNG/WhatsNew block, I get the same page error when trying to view entries through that block. It does pull the data, shows me names, but the links do not work.

Step-by-Step it goes fine, until I get to step 3c... I go to 3rd party Modules, clcik on pnTNG and get Module pnTNG not available I removed and reinstalled pnTNg twice, kept getting the same error. Then, on a whim, I wanted to verify that the TNG install was still working, so I pathed directly to it in /modles/tng/ and it opeend fine... when I hit page back, the menu options showed up! But, when I checked off the boxes i wanted and hit the Update button... I was right back to the error again. I have to navigate off the page, then Page back to it to see content. Using [tng] in my menu, I get: Error! Called unknown function: pnTNG_userapi_GetTNGpaths() I noticed, at this point, that the admin panel still said it was 3.03 I tried to activate the backed up 2.14, but it seemed to cause the Admin sections to cross up somehow, both links showed an error concering 2.14, so I deacivated aqnd removed 214 from the modules. 3.1 was still not working, deactivated and reactivated it, and the admin panel suddenly started working every time, no error, and it showed correct version. Clicked the Configure TNG link and it took me right where I needed to be..... Had to go back to using [pnTNG] for it to open in the frame, otherwise it took over the window. Overall, it looks good.... glad I kept at it..... now to start making my cosmetic changes so the main page of the tng section is not so bland....
