Wendal,

How are you related to the Fabers/Schliesing's? If you are related...I am probably one of your distance cousins. My Grandmother was Johanna Faber.

:)

Alice,
Yes, we are 4th cousins 1 time removed. Our common ancestors are Carl and Elisabeth (Ackermann) Schaefer. I am in the Philipp Schaefer branch. You are in the Friedericke Schaefer branch.
My branch goes from Philipp Schaefer, to his daughter Anna Elise who married Heinrich Voigt, then their son Ernst Voigt, then his son Wilfred, and then me. One of the things I've been trying to do is record all the descendants of Carl and Elisabeth Schaefer. You can see what I have on this web site. The only thing I've done is hide the details of those living.

There is also an annual Schaefer reunion generally in the New Braunfels area.

That is wonderful. Do you need anyting from my line? Johanna Laura Faber married Frank Conaway (Grandparent) who had Frank Conaway Jr. and Dorothy Conaway. Frank Conaway Jr married June Luethy(parents) who had Alice Conaway (me) who married Bobby Denson. My Aunt is still alive and I have all her information as well. I have old pictures of the Fabers and Schliesing if you would like copies. I also have pictures that were given to me that my Aunt received that we cannot identify. I am pretty sure they are from the Faber/Schliesing line. I could be wrong and they could me Matslers, but I really think they are this line.I know they are not the Conaway side. Do you think you might be able to identify them? If not, someone else in the family. :)

Alice,
You can see the people that I have in your family by going to:
http://www.voigtworld.com/pntng.php?file=register&personID=I7367&tree=voigt

I'm missing date/place information on your parents. And I'm missing all after your generation. In general, I'm also missing your spouse and sister-in-law's birth date/place. If you wish to fill me in to update the database, you can email me directly at wvoigt AT alumni DOT rice DOT edu (you need to replace the AT with @ and the DOTs with periods.) That way it is not posted here for all to see.

You just missed this year's Schaefer reunion. It was held on 14 Oct 2006 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in New Braunfels. I can email you a contact to call to get on the mailing list. I don't want just post her phone number here.

By the way, I'm not sure you are aware, but Carl Schaefer helped transport from the coast the first church bells for the First Protestant Church. Those bells are now on display in front of the church. You can see pictures at http://www.ccgstexas.org/module-Photoshare-showimages-fid-2.html on the Comal County Genealogy Society website.
The Schaefers are also considered a founding family of New Braunfels. The mother and father died within the first year -- leaving a very large family of children ranging from young adults to one only a couple of years old. Also, your ancestor Johannette Schaefer (their granddaughter) was one of the first children born in Texas to this group of German immigrants.
