RegInfo Block

Guest Posted: 07.09.2006, 15:36
Unregistered User First of all thank you very much for the work you've done with this product. It's very appreciated.

I've just finished a fresh install of TNG and pnTNG 2.16. I have a couple issues that I can't resolve. First, there seems to be a compatibility problem with the RegInfo block. I only have the RegInfo block available for one user and when I'm logged in to Postnuke with this user and access TNG I get weird SQL errors where the RegInfo block is located. TNG works fine for all other users.

Second, the guest account isn't getting created. When I access TNG without logging into Postnuke, it takes me to the Postnuke login page.

Thanks for your help.

Jason,
A couple of questions:

1. What version of PostNuke are you using?
2. Just double checking... In the pnTNG admin settings, do you have the following checked:
-Create TNG users from PostNuke user information
- Keep TNG user information up to date with changed PostNuke user information

3. Can you point me to more information on the RegInfo block. What module is this part of? What version do you have?

1. PostNuke .7.6.0.
2. Yes both items are checked

3.I thought it was a part of the core blocks included with PostNuke but after looking into it further it turns out it was written by a third party. I'm going to remove it because I never really got much use out of it.

I still need to figure out why the guest account isn't working. Thank you for your assistance.

Jason,
OK, I just double checked the code in 2.16 and it __should__ be creating the Guest account. I even checked it out again on my site.
As administrator in TNG, have you checked to make sure the Guest account is not there? I want to make sure we're not chasing something else. Would you be ok with emailing your site address to pntng@voigtworld.com. Then I could see first hand what things look like.

Also, if you don't see a Guest account in TNG, a possible workaround would be to create one by hand in TNG. The user ID just needs to be Guest. I would also give it a very strong/long password to make sure someone doesn't hack into it.

If you still see the same problem even with the Guest account in TNG, then I need to look elsewhere.

The guest account is not listed in the TNG users. I did create it manually but it still won't let me in. I've sent my address over.

Thanks

Jason,
So I took a look (great looking site by the way.) It is behaving as if the field "Check to allow non-logged in PostNuke user to have TNG Guest access" is not checked. Can you verify that you have this checked in the pnTNG administration.

Well I feel dumb. I could of sworn I had that checked. After checking that box it functions perfectly. Thanks again for all your hard work.

Jason,
Glad it works! Sorry I should have asked too in my first reply. You can delete my id from your site. I do like the theme of your site. You've done a great job.
