Charles Orville Satterfield, son of Howard Milton and Sarah Margaret
(Figard) SAtterfield was born in that part of Six Mile Run, known as
Piper's Row, Coledale Borough, Pennsylvania. Studied telegraphy in
Bedford, Pennsylvania and worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad (now Penn Central) and the Pittsburgh & Lake Erie the following six years. Went to Los Angeles, California the latter part of August 1913 and became connected with the Automobile Club of Southern California. On June 30th, 1915 he married Bessie Lee Mertz, daughter of Charles Franklin and Ann Elizabeth (Herd) Mertz, formerly of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Reverand John Clarence Pinkerton, pastor of the First United Presbyterian Church at Nineth nad Figueroa Streets, Los Angeles, California performed the ceremony. Charles Orville Satterfield retired July 1st 1956 but keeps active in Church work, United Crusade, Music, Magic and photography. Betty Lee Satterfield passed away in the Hospital of the Good Samaritan, 1212 Shatto Place, Los Angeles, California May 1st, 1966 at %:50 Sunday afternoon. Dr, Melvin E. Wheatly Jr., officiated at the service held, May 5th, in the Chapel of Breese Brothers and Gillette, 950 West Washington Boulevard, Los Angeles, California. Burial was in Forest Lawn, Glendale, California.
