Obituary: Margaret Marie Diethorn May, 83, a Mount Oliver official who was active in Democratic politics,
died Saturday in South Side Hospital of cardiac arrest.
A lifelong resident of Mount Oliver, Mrs. May was secretary of the borough until her retirement in 1987. As
a Democratic committeewoman, she worked at the polls in every election and served as vice chairwoman of
the Mount Oliver Democratic organization.
She was an elected school director of the Mount Oliver school district until it merged with the city school
district in 1965. She was also active in St. John Vianney Parish, now part of St. Joseph Church in Mount
Oliver.
She is survived by two daughters, Juanita M. Lichalk of Pleasant Hills and Mary Ann Elliott of Dun, Okla.;
three sons, Edward A. of North Branch, Mich., Walter W. of Pleasant Hills and Lawrence R. of Imlay City,
Mich.; 19 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation in Howard A. Farnsworth Funeral Home, 425 Brownsville Road, Mount Oliver, will be from 2 to 9
p.m. today and tomorrow. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph Church, Ormsby
Avenue, Mount Oliver, followed by burial in Jefferson Memorial Park, Pleasant Hills.
