      STEARNS
      Arthur Patrick Stearns of New Braunfels passed away in San Antonio on Monday, Dec. 24, 2001. He was 67 years old.
      Mr. Stearns was born in Janesville, Wisconsin, on Dec. 24, 1934. He attended schools in Janesville and graduated from Janesville High School in 1955. He served in the United States Navy from April 1956 until April 1958.
      Mr. Stearns married Gladys Pawlik at St. George Catholic Church in George West, Texas, on April 26, 1958.
      Survivors include his wife, Gladys; sons, Jim Stearns of Houston, Dan (Janine) Stearns of Janesville, Dave (Cathy) Stearns of Kansas City, Stan (Laurie) Stearns of Omaha, Paul (Meldy) Stearns of Norfolk, Virginia; his daughter, Marie (Rob) Madden of Rockford, Illinois; as well as grandchildren, Courtney, Kristen, Shannon, Lauren, Ryan, Nathan, Nicole, Logan and Kerwin Stearns, and Kimberly and Mathew Madden; his brother, James (Grace) Stearns of Arlington Heights, Illinois; and sisters, Marilyn (Phil) Rendy of Madison, Wisconsin, and Suzanne (Jon) Schleisner of Janesville.
      Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m.
      Art will be missed by all who knew him. In a 1990 Gazette interview, Art is quoted as saying, ?You?ve got to smell the roses before you push the daisies.? Art lived a full life, loving every minute of it and giving more back to it than he ever took from it.
      Memorial donations can be made to the Kiwanis Club for the Kiwanis Pond Project.
