      Birdie attended school in Shelby and attended Fayetteville High School. She was confirmed in the Shelby Lutheran Church, but later was a member of the Industry United Methodist Church. Birdie and Eddie Luetge had a double wedding on Thanksgiving Day with Elvira and Otto Luetge.

      Eddie was a farmer, a butcher, enjoyed music, and sang in a church choir as an adult. He attended school at Schoenau and took part in various local activities. He and Birdie raised cotton, corn, and cattle. Eddie died 31 Dec 1963.
