      Alice and Leonard owned the old homestead. Alice and Leonard were interested in antique furniture and in keeping the old homestead as near as possible to what it was when the grandparents lived in it. Alice also enjoyed needlework and reading in her spare time. Alice worked in Houston as an Executive Secretary in the Marketing Department of Igloo Corporation, a manufacturere of ice chests.

      Leonard grew up in Houston. He retired after 37 years as a businessman. He liked to fish and hunt. The family lived in Houston, but spent a lot of their time on the Edmund and Mary Eckermann place which the family bought in 1965.
